Dans Paris is a good starting point - an intimate portrayal of contemporary Paris; inspired by the Nouvelle Vague (new wave) movement. If you enjoy that then check out the classics: Breathless, Pierrot Le Fou, Masculine Feminine, pretty much anything by Godard or Truffaut. There’s also an amazing little short film by Francois Ozon called Un Liver De Ridaeu (A Curtain Raiser) which is essential viewing.
